Research - Film noir

Research:

before beginning our task i have decided to conduct some research in order to get a bigger idea on what "film noir" is and involves. i have learnt the main conventions:
  • Femme fetal
  • Key lighting
  • Narration
  • Black and white, etc.
In order to get this information i have looked through the internet and watched film noir movies, this gave me a larger idea of i could include and should include.

Premliminary task - Post production.

Post-Production:
Editing:
Alex decided to take on board the role of editing as he had a great deal of experience in this area and therefore knew exactly what had to be done.

Presentation:
Ruth took on board writing the presentation up to show the class as she understood the concept of what had to be included and knew the details of what was to be put in it, making this more successful to present to the class.

Evaluation:
We each wrote our own evaluation although helped each other by talking about what could've been inproved throughout the whole task, which was benefitial as we now understand what to do instead next time. The evalutation was written for 1000 words which was plenty enough to write everything needed to include;
  • what we did
  • what could've been improved
  • what to do better next time
  • what went well

    Premliminary task - Production.

    Production:
We arranged to meet up in order to film the story in our chosen location (an old barn) where we could all be involved in filming, although this was difficult in terms of deciding on a time to meet due to being fairly busy people.
Filming took just over an hour which was good as it meant we could soon begin out post-production therefore being one step closer into finishing. Everything went well during this stage as Alex had already conducted a risk assessment and we knew the possible risk that we could face during filming which were therefore prevented.

    Preliminary Task - Planning.

    Planning:
Whilst planning we had to do a series of jobs either as a group or individually, this included thinking of an idea, script, storyboard, production schedule, shooting schedule, poster and more.
I was in charge of creating the production schedule, shooting schedule, script and the storyboard.

    Production/Shooting schedule:
we made the production and shooting schedule during one of media lessons in which meant that we could work together to arrange times, locations and anything else that had to be included, this didn't take very long as we all agreed on what was to be done. Although the shooting schedule was slightly harder to predict as it would depend on when we were all available and when the location could be used, also other factors made this hard.

    Script:
during a free lesson we all came together to write the script so that there was a rough idea on what would be filmed, in what order it would be filmed and how it would be filmed. Basically it was detailed list of what would have to be done during production.

    Storyboard:
whilst deciding on the concept of our film i began to draw and write up our storyboard roughly so that the group had some idea of what we were going to do, this was in not very much detail though as it was done a draft.
However this got ruined during filming due to the "fake blood" that was used.
