Research - Costumes.

In order to film our movie we must be able to understand "attention to detail", which includes costumes, hair and make-up. As the fashion has changed a great deal over time i thought it would be an idea to look into what the main concept of the costumes would have been:

Males generally were seen in a top hat, with a black tie, suspenders, black trousers and a jacket in which emphasises the fashion of "work" and particularly in the film for the detective role this would have been very important to explain to the audience his occupation but also his personality of being involved with his work throughout the film.
Whereas women's costumes were a lot more complex through have a traditional hair style, in which was shown curly, yet straight in a way, but overall very sophisticated. The make-up was often fairly natural as during this era make-up wasnt very popular until the end, this meant at most they would have red lips. Often the costume would be a long elegant dress either black or white however this varies depending on different films. for example in "the big sleep", a young woman is shown in a short tennis outfit of which would've been recognised to be revealing for this time.
